As we continue in this Advent season, in preparation for his birth/his second coming, let us reflect deeply and take to heart His every word, especially in the Gospel passages. And let us remember that if He was misunderstood, not received, and persecuted, we will be also. We are living in significant times, where the "sheep and the goats" (Rev.) are being separated more clearly; as fence stratlers must choose sides. Those who are not living the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, but rather, by the spirit of the world the flesh and the devil, will not understand us (unless they are truly seeking, and have "ears to hear," the truth). In today's liturgy we are told that the word of God must be kept in our heart, that we might not sin. We are encouraged to let the word of God enter into our very being, to take possession of our desires and our whole way of life (cf. office of readings, a sermon by Saint Bernard, Abbot).
